Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
We meet the 2nd Saturday of the month, September - May at 6:00pm at the Host of the Month's house.
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner is a christian way to open our homes to fellow parishioners, allow us to share a meal, meet new friends, and develop the community of Saint Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
How Guess Who's Coming to Dinner Works
The meetings are social dinners held in the homes of participating parishioners. We meet once a month on the 2nd Saturday usually around 6 pm. Members are contacted by evite and the yes responses make up the guest list. Hosts confirm the number of guest they can accommodate in their home. Guest are randomly chosen for each host, then the host is notified of their selected guest given their names and phone numbers.
As of July 2010, we have 30 active members.
Host Family Duties
The host family plans what you would like to have for the dinner. The host provides the entrée (meats) and will ask the guest to bring sides, salads, and desserts etc. The host will provide the guest with their name, address, phone number and directions to their home. When all is ready everyone has a wonderful time.
The host families are the backbone of this endeavor ie. no host, no dinner. Everyone should take a turn, with enough people it will be a great activity.
Coordinator's Duties
The coordinator draws guests for specified hosts of the month and notify them with a list of guest to their dinner. They also notify guest of the up coming dinner in a timely manner so everyone can respond, and make appropriate plans.
It is very important that guests be timely with their response to allow the coordinator to do her part.
Like to join us? We are always happy to expand our ministry and would ask you to contact Rosemary who would be more then happy to answer any questions you may have.
